The Twin Valley League basketball tournament tipped off for the 21st time last week and for the 12th time it was the Centralia lady Panthers claiming the tournament title as they won their third consecutive tourney title.
All year the contributions have come from multiple players for the Panthers in many ways but all season there has been one steady performer leading the charge for the Panthers night in and night out, that being senior, Cassidy Haufler.
After a first round by in the tournament Centralia took on Doniphan West in the Quarterfinals and won 69-42 and Cassidy tied for a team high 15 points in the contest. In the Semifinals, Centralia clipped the wings of the Wetmore Cardinals winning 48-30 and Haufler paced the way with 17 points. The Championship match was up next and the Centralia took on the host Washington County and won a tough 63-50 contest. Haufler tallied 17 points in the contest and had 14 points in the second to help cement the win for the Panthers.
On the year Haufler is averaging close to a double-double with 14.8 points and nine rebounds per game, while adding a steal and two assists per game. Out of the 11 games played for the Panthers the senior has notched double figures in 10 of the teams 11 games, including a 21 point performance against Doniphan West in the regular season contest.
Centralia sits at 11-0 on the season, owns a 34-game winning streak and ranks #1 in Class 1A-DI by the KBCA and has their sights set on a strong finish to the regular season and a push in the postseason to defend their State title.
