Mitchell Harling

The Falls City Tigers have been a force to be reckoned with on the hardwood this season as they are off to an 11-0 start and most recently captured the LeBlond Tournament in St. Joseph title with a 3-0 tournament.
In the tournament Falls City played well as a team but one player stood out beyond the rest that was junior, Mitchell Harling who's performance throughout the tournament earned him the tourney MVP award. The Tigers breezed past St. Joseph Christian in the first round with a 61-36 win, then took care of Chillcothe by 16 points in the second round by a margin of 48-32. In the championship Falls City meet up with Bishop LeBlond who they would take down by five points, 45-40 in overtime outscoring Bishop LeBlond 10-5 in OT.
Harling who was named the MVP of the tournament was a jack-of-all-trades on the hardwood scoring and making a multitude of plays both offensively and defensively. Mitchell through three games scored 43 games which worked out to a 14.3 points per game. He dropped 18 points in the tournament opener over St. Joseph Christian with a pair of three's, then only tallied eight points against Chillcothe and closed out the tournament against Bishop LeBlond with 17 points with a pair of three's. He did some of his scoring behind the arc as he was 4-8 from three-point land (50%) and went 81.3% from the free throw line (13-16).
While, Harling's offensive stats stand out his Head Coach, Don Hogue would perhaps say the best part of the tournament for Mitchell was his defense in the championship game against Bishop LeBlond's top player who was posting 18 points per game, but Mitchell held him to nine points, only two going into the fourth quarter.
Falls City, continues to roll through the season and looks to continue that success with Mitchell and his teammates playing great on the hardwood.
