Sabetha Bluejays have been pounding their way through the competition to start the football season 5-0 utilizing their ground attack to notching an unbeaten start to the year.

The Bluejays in five games have amassed 1,814 yards rushing as a team good for 362.8 yards per game and helping lead the charge has been senior, Blake Plattner. Plattner in last week’s 28-7 road win over Perry Lecompton toted the ball 21 times for 201 yards and two touchdowns, his best game of the year in rushing yards as the Bluejays as a team ran for 350 yards in the victory.

Plattner has carried a workload this season for Sabetha with 71 carries for 638 yards and 13 touchdowns, posting nearly a nine yard per carry average this season. The Sabetha senior has surpassed 100 yards rushing in two other games this season rushing for 140 yards on 21 carries with five touchdowns against Jeff West and 137 yards on 16 carries with a touchdown against Holton.

Along with his teammates, Plattner and his teammates look to continue their strong season with ACCHS coming town in week six and then District play opening up.
