Hunter Stevenson

After a season opening loss to Troy the Valley Heights Mustangs have been on a roll picking up three straight wins and their rushing attack out of the triple option has been quite potent over 1,500 yards of rushing offense with 386.8 rush yards per game.

The Mustangs continued to run the ball down the throat of their opponents in week four beating an unbeaten Ellis team 46-21 while rushing for 436 yards as a team. Senior tailback, Hunter Stevenson has been at the forefront of the teams rushing success and led the charge against Ellis with 274 yards rushing on 19 carries with five touchdowns, averaging 14.4 yards per carry in the game. Stevenson impact didn’t stop there in the game as the senior recorded 10 tackles on defense and intercepted two passes in the win.

On the year Stevenson has compiled 839 yards on 82 carries in four games with 11 touchdowns and touts a 10.1 yard per carry average, running for over 200 yards twice already this season and 130+ yards in every game. On defense he is second on the team in tackles with 31 and had two interceptions and a fumble recovery in the first four games.

Valley Heights is off to one of their best starts in years and have already surpassed last year’s win total by one. Mustangs look to continue their gallop this season with Stevenson helping lead the way as they set their sights on competing for a playoff spot in a tough 2-1A District.
