|
Some things are just certainties and one of those in Northeast Kansas is that Centralia Panther volleyball will be good. That has been proven by the lady Panthers over the course of many years 25 appearances at State, 12 State titles and several top three finishes.
Nothing is different for the lady Centralia Panthers this year they are off to another tremendous start on the volleyball court notching a 17-0 thus far including a 6-0 performance last Saturday at the Hiawatha Invitational to claim the tournament title yet again. Panthers topped Troy, Riverside, Atchison and Hiawatha in pool play to earn a spot in the Semifinals in which they battled from behind in set one to ultimately win in straight sets over Immaculata. In the Championship the Panthers took on host Hiawatha for the second time in the day and again picked up a straight set win to claim the tournament title.
On the year the Panthers started the season by winning the Wabaunsee Invite and are 5-0 in Twin Valley League action entering Tuesday, September 20th. The Panthers have overcome the graduation of several great players from last year but also the injury of a key player this year too, having several young players set into bigger roles and fill spots, while some upperclassmen show leadership and lead the way.
After a second place finish at State last year the Panthers started the season ranked second by the Kansas Volleyball Association in Class 1A-Division I, but have since jumped into the number one spot in the polls.
Centralia Panther volleyball team is on the prowl again this season for another strong performance something that they have made a regular occurrence.
