A new but familiar foe stood in front of the Frankfort Wildcats to open up the football season as they took on the Onaga Buffaloes who moved down to 8-Man football.
The game proved to be a tough one for both teams and despite trailing most of the Wildcats pounced on the lead with under six minutes left and earned the 42-34 win. Helping lead the way for Frankfort in Coach Nick Anderson first win as varsity coach taking over this year was a familiar face at quarterback in senior, Adam Kenworthy.
Kenworthy back to take the reins of the Wildcat offense again led the Frankfort attack on offense that ran for 400-plus yards; accounting for 224 yards on 37 carries himself with five touchdowns, including scoring runs of 24 and 46 yards. The senior scored the go ahead touchdown on a fourth and goal run from the one-yard line to give the Wildcats the lead and ultimately the win, while he also threw the ball for 37 yards on the night.
Adam’s impact on the game didn’t stop on offense as he recorded six tackles on defense and snagged a fumble recovery that set up a short field and score for the Wildcats.
Contributions from all around and grit to fight back push Kenworthy and the Frankfort Wildcats to the win to open the season against Onaga and the Wildcats look to use that game to gain experience and push forward to a strong season.
