Nemaha Valley Raiders, Creighton Brinker Stands Above the Competition

He towers over quite a few inside the paint on the hardwood with his 6'7 stature but it’s not just his size that makes his so successful on the court for the Nemaha Valley Raiders. Senior, Creighton Brinker as emerged as a prime go to player for the Raiders and a key cog to this season's success for a team that made the Class 3A State title game last year finishing the season 23-3 and Class 3A runner-ups.

Brinker has made his presence known on the hardwood this season helping the Raiders to a 3-0 start with his teammates and leading the team in points, rebounds, steals and blocks early on in the year. Creighton is posting a stat line of 14 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 3 bpg, 2.3 spg and 1.6 apg through the first three contests this year, while shooting 54.5% from the floor (18-33).

After only posting six points in the season opener against Hanover, Brinker busted out with a stellar performance against 4A, Wamego. He poured out 23 points in the contest, including the game winning basket on a offensive board put back with 11.5 seconds left to go. Raiders got behind the eight ball early against Wamego but fought out of the hole with 16 points in the second quarter and that is when Brinker took over going on a scoring barrage of 14 points in the quarter.

Creighton followed up his 23 point performance with 13 points against Santa Fe Trail in the Big Seven opener for Nemaha Valley, as he was one of four starters to score in double figures for the Raiders.

Brinker, earned plenty of accolades last season as a junior, earning Class 3A Honorable Mention and honorable mention All-Big Seven League and looks primed to earned plenty more accolades his senior year.

Nemaha Valley has started the season off 3-0 and are ranked number two in the Class 3A polls by KBCA and Creighton Brinker has been a key part to start this season for the Raiders as he and his teammates have their sights set on a return to the state tournament this season.
