Laura Edelman

The tennis season started off with a strong swing for the lady Bluejays of Sabetha at the Wamego Invitational as the team claimed the tournament crown in a competition involving five schools.

Leading the charge for Sabetha on their way to the first place finish was senior, Laura Edelman who tallied the best performance on the day for the Bluejays. Edelman who competed in the Singles #2 competition notched a perfect 4-0 day to snag first place. Laura picked up a 6-1 win against Wabaunsee, won 6-2 versus Topeka and recorded 6-4 wins against Wamego and Atchison. Her first place finish partnered with three second place finishes by her teammates gave the Bluejays 32 points to win the team title by five points at the Wamego Invitational.

Edelman as a junior last year had a strong season on the tennis court as she was primarily involved in doubles action. Laura partnered with Savanna Metzger posted a sixth place finish at Regionals going 2-2 in action to qualify for the 3-2-1A State tournament where the duo went 1-2 in action.

The season is just underway for the Bluejays but Edelman and company look to build upon their hot start to the season with the senior playing a big part to the Bluejays success on the tennis court.
