Centralia Lady Panthers Track
|
What a year for the Centralia Panthers athletic programs especially on the girls side as the lady Panthers were 1A-Division I State volleyball runner-ups, captured the 1A-DI State basketball title and at State Track added the first girls State team track title in school history.
The lady Panthers behind 11 medals in Class 1A competition at the 2016 Kansas high school State track and field competition captured the 1A team State title with 56.66 points just edging out fellow Twin Valley League school Axtell by 2.66 points.
Leading the charge at State was an individual State Champion as Breanna Schmitz notched a vault of 10’00 to win the 1A pole vault title and her teammates, Chelsea Huerter and Breanna Hasenkamp each tied for second in the pole vault (9’06). Tara Bergman closed out her Panther track career with a pair of medals tossing a personal record, 124’06 to take second in the discus and with a throw of 33’09 placed eighth in the shot put.
