Strong performances have come all season from the tee for Centralia Panther senior, Ryan Vernon registering several Top five showings while helping Vermillion win multiple competitions. That continued last week as Vernon teed it up at the Twin Valley League tournament and came out as TVL champ with the best individual, while helping guide his team to the TVL title, also.
Vernon behind a 37 at the TVL Tournament earned the League title by three-strokes, while partnered with his teammates Vermillion (Centralia & Frankfort) brought home the TVL team title with a team score of 170 winning by nine strokes.
On the year the Centralia senior has enjoyed several strong performances including first place at the Wamego, Washington County and Vermillion Invites, while notching second place at the Onaga Invite and fifth place at the Valley Heights Invite.
Ryan has qualified for State now all four years in his Panther golf career in Class 1A has he had his fellow Centralia Panthers took second at Regionals in Pleasanton on Monday to qualify for State as a team. Vernon shot a 99 at Regionals to earn seventh place individual. The Panther has finished in the Top 20 every year at State taking 18th place as a freshman, 14th place as a junior last year and winning the 1A State title as a sophomore in 2014, while Centralia won the 1A team State title that year.
Vernon looks to continue his strong senior year and wrap up his high school athletic career with another strong performance on the links when he tees it up at the Class 1A State competition.
