Mound City Panther Girls Basketball Team

The final four is not an unfamiliar spot for the Mound City lady Panthers as they have been there before but until this year a third place finish was the best for the Panthers. That changed this year as Mound City went through the competition to win the Class 1 State title in Missouri.

Mound City headed into the State tournament and in the opening round faced the only team that beat them on the season in Jefferson (Conception) and the Panthers pounced on the opportunity for revenge winning 53-42 to continue their season. On to the Quarterfinals were the Panthers cruised past Norborne 60-36. In the Semifinals it was the closest game of the State tournament for Mound City as they faced off against Glasgow and won 57-52 to earn the right to play for the State title. In the State Championship game Mound City battled with Naylor holding a lead early and holding them off throughout the game and stretching the lead late to win 57-45 and claim the Class 1 State title.

The State title is the first in school history for Mound City and the Panthers capped the season with a 30-1 record bring home the State Championship.
