After only their second loss of the season the Nemaha Central lady Thunder have responded to win four-straight including avenging that second loss of the year.
Sophomore, Laura Macke has been right at the front of the team’s success this season putting together a strong stretch recently including a new season high for herself. During the Thunders current four-game winning streak Macke has scored double figures in all four games including 22 points a new season high in a win over Hiawatha to avenge their most recent loss as the Thunder won 53-43 on the road. Macke added five rebounds and four blocks to those 22 points in the win against the Red Hawks.
Nemaha Central wrapped up last week with a 49-26 win over Perry Lecompton and Laura notched 11 points and five rebounds in that win.
Macke has seized the opportunity this year jumping into a starting role for the Thunder and has been helping lead the charge on a strong 14-2 season thus far. The sophomore is averaging 10 points per game, four rebounds per game, along with two assists and steals per game, while shooting 50% from two-point range. Laura has reached double figures this season in 12 of the Thunders 16 games played and has showcased the ability to be a leader of the floor for Nemaha Central.
With only a few games left the Thunder look to finish out the regular season strong and position themselves for perhaps a run in the postseason with Macke and her teammates playing extremely well.
