Bryson Patch
|
There have been a few struggles this season for the Holton Wildcat boys’ basketball team including a rough patch of eight-straight losses. But things have turned around in the last four games as the Wildcats are riding a five-game winning streak and at the forefront of that success has been the play of junior, Bryson Patch.
Patch coming back as the team’s top scorer from last year, just averaging nine points per game, has shouldered a big scoring load this year for the Wildcats and has stepped his game up, especially as of late. The junior is averaging 22.8 points per game in the last four games for Holton during their win streak and that includes a 38 point out pouring in a 60-48 win over ACCHS. The Wildcats also took down Perry Lecompton last week 31-18 and Patch posted 19 points in the win. During the current stretch Holton also handed Sabetha their first loss of the season and 25 points by Bryson helped Holton to the win. Patch added 28 in a three-point Friday win at Riverside.
On the year Patch is averaging 18.8 points per game, doubling his per game average from last year, while grabbing 4.5 rebounds per game and being pretty efficient from the floor. The junior is shooting 46.4% from the floor (50% two-point & 42.4% three-point) and 69.8% at the free throw line. Bryson has reached double figures in 13 of the teams 15 games and scored 20-plus points seven times this year.
Riding a wave of success the Wildcats sit at 6-9 on the season and hope to make some noise in the Big Seven League to round out the regular season and make a push to Sub-State where they look to challenge in a tough 4A-DII Sub-State that will be played at home.
