The points have been pouring in to start the season for Jackson Heights Cobra senior, Zane Richter as the sharpshooter has put on a scoring display and some of his teammates have joined the party with big games, too to lead the Cobras to a 4-0 record and #7 ranking in Class 2A KBCA rankings.
Heading into the holiday break the Cobras took down Pleasant Ridge and Oskaloosa in Northeast Kansas League play last week with 78-52 and 62-39 wins, respectively last week and Richter did what he does best score and fill that stat sheet.
In the win against Pleasant Ridge Richter hung nearly half a hundred scoring 47 points hitting 16-24 field goals in the contest, while going 8-16 from three-point range and a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. Has as if the points and shooting night wasn’t enough for the Senior he added eight rebounds, six steals, a block and assist to his final stat line in the win against the Rams.
Zane followed that up with a double on the road against Oskaloosa posting 27 points with 11 rebounds, while adding six steals and two blocks in the win.
To say Richter is a stat sheet stuffer is an obvious statement with numbers like 30.5 points per game, 8.5 rebounds per game, 5.5 steals per game, two assists per game and 1.3 blocks per game through the first four contests this year. But he’s doing his scoring efficiently shooting 52% from the floor, 48% from three-point range and 70% from the free throw, while providing leadership as a senior.
Richter’s great performances partnered with his teammates great performances have the Cobras blistering hot out of the gate to start the season and set up to be one dangerous team in NEKL and Class 2A to deal with this season with plenty of goals in mind for hungry Cobra team ready to strike.
