Troy Trojans Use Strong Rushing Performance to Make 2-1A State Title Game
Troy Trojans Rushing Attack

The Troy Trojans have reached a height in football they have never accomplished as a program until now and will play for the 2-1A State title on Saturday, November 28th in Hays against Phillipsburg.

To earn a spot in that game the Trojans avenged a Sub-State playoff loss from last year to Olpe this year by beating the Eagles 30-21 in Troy last Friday and helping Troy to the win was the rushing attack that posted 250 yards in the game and three of the teams four touchdowns came on the ground.

Trojans offense busted open in the second quarter with three rushing touchdowns and all 30 of their points to take the lead and ultimately the win. The rushing attack speared head the Trojans in the contest averaging 6.3 yards per carry with 40 carries for their 250 yards rushing. It was balance on the ground that paced Troy with Reid Greaser helped lead the charge with 80 yards on and a touchdown, while Alex Martinez also had a touchdown and ran for 59 yards on 13 carries. Cuttar Huss added 82 yards on just five carries and scored the other rushing touchdown and Kortin Blevins chipped in 29 yards on six carries.

The offensive line of Wyatt Huss, Ben Wardlow, Luke Smith, Wil Smith and Tucker Morris all have help pace the Trojans offense this year and the rushing attack which is averaging 229.3 yards per game with 6.2 yards per carry and 41 touchdowns on the ground. The Troy rushing offense features five guys with 230-plus yards and four of those guys have 511 yards or more rushing on the season, while seven different Trojans have ran for a touchdown.

The Trojans will look to capture their first football State title in school history on Saturday at Fort Hays State University against Phillipsburg.
