Laura Sudbeck

Success in athletics is not a foreign thing for Baileyville-B&B Falcon athletic programs that includes the volleyball program that yet again captured another state title. The Lady Falcons made it back-to-back Class 1A-Division II state championships this year in Hays.

The Lady Falcons finished for the second straight as state champs and with 40 wins, going 40-5 this season. A key part of the success for the Falcons was they play of junior, Laura Sudbeck who was recently award “Player of the Year” honors in Class 1A-Division II for her play this season.

Sudbeck, only a junior as made an impact on the Lady Falcons volleyball team since her freshman season and started to get noticed then as she has earned plenty of postseason awards all three years on the team. Laura has been named every season to the All State All-Tournament teams, plus earning All-State honors each year, too. This year and the last (her sophomore year) Laura was selected as first team All-State in Class 1A-DII and her freshman season she was picked second team All-State in Class 1A-DI.

Laura’s, “Player of the Year” honors are well deserved as she was a spark on the Falcons team, a team leader as a junior and lead the Lady Falcons in many statistical categories. Sudbeck finished the season with 449 kills with a 42.8% kill percentage, while also having a 98% serving percentage and tallying 32 aces. Defensively, she finished with 387 digs and came up with 40 blocks this season.

As a part of the B&B volleyball team Laura has helped the Lady Falcons in her three years to two state titles, a third place state finish and an overall record of 113-24 in the last three years.

The Lady Falcons have enjoyed success on the volleyball court for a while and look primed to have another great season next year behind many returners.
