Nemaha Central Thunder sophomore, Jacob Koelzer has made big impact on the track this year sprinting and leaping to success.
The sophomore put together his best week this season last week as Nemaha Central host a track meet and the Thunder also competed at the Sabetha Invitational. The week started off for Koelzer at home where he dashed his way to a time of 10.81 to win the 100 meter dash and posted a leap of 20’10.75 to the long jump. On top of that he partnered with three of his teammates and finished second in the 4x100 meter relay at the Nemaha Central Invitational.
Jacob’s performance at the Thunder home meet would have been a solid week in its self but he didn’t stop there as he and his teammates took home the team meet crown at the Sabetha Invitational last Thursday. Koelzer was a key part of the team winning the meet as he yet again won the 100 meter dash, posting his fastest time of the year, 10.79 while again leaping to the long jump win behind a time of 21’00.50 and was part of a first place in the 4x100 meter relay after the Thunder 4x100 quartet notched a time of 44.87.
On the year the sophomore is undefeated in the 100 meter dash in seven track meets for the Thunder, posting a sub 11 second time five or the seven times. While he won the long jump in four of the seven meets and finishing no lower than fourth in the other three. With the 4x100 meter relay, Koelzer has partnered with his teammates to win three times and finish second twice. Jacob also competed in the 200 meter dash once this season at the Republic County Invite and finished second in the event.
Only three meets remain on the year with League, Regionals and State and Koelzer has his sights set on continuing to better his marks and reach Wichita to compete at State.
