Hunter Ostertag

Just two years into his high school career and already a State champion and putting together strong performance after strong performance, Hunter Ostertag of ACCHS has a promising future ahead of himself.

The Tiger sophomore hit the mats at the 3-2-1A State tournament for the second straight year this year and wrestled his way to the State title after taking second at Regionals. The State tournament started with a dominating technical fall 20-5 win for Ostertag and he followed that up with an 11-0 decision win to make the Semifinals. In the Semifinals the sophomore notched the 6-2 decision win to move into the Championship bout to face off with a grappler from Silver Lake whom Hunter lost to in the Regional championship match. This time around the Tiger sophomore earned the win, avenging the Regionals loss and winning the State title at 120lbs with a 1-0 decision.

Ostertag finished the season 33-9 on the mats, claiming the 120lbs 3-2-1A State title and spent most of the season ranked by the KWCA at 120lbs. Just in two years Hunter as put together a strong wrestling career, qualifying for State both years and placing second at 106lbs as a freshman and then winning the State title this year, while posting a 58-17 record during that two year span.

The future looks bright for Ostertag as he looks to be not only one of the top wrestlers in the listening area but in the State for the next few years, continuing to put together strong performances on the mats.
