The Doniphan West Mustangs are enjoy one of their best season in years on the basketball court and riding the wave of a five-game winning streak currently to sit at 12-6 on the season. The Mustangs play as of late has got plenty of attention as the jumped into the latest KBCA rankings for the first time this season coming in at number five in Class 1A-Division I.

A key contributor all season has been senior, Jeffrey Watts who continues to light up the scoreboard with his performance while he teammates continue to make plays with him. Watts and the Mustangs picked up three wins last week with two coming on the road, beating Wetmore 52-32 at their place, picking up a big win at Falls City Sacred Heart 57-54 and beat Blue Valley 66-45 at home to cap off the week.

The senior, Watts helped lead the way in each game posting 20 points against Wetmore, 18 versus Falls City Sacred Heart and scoring 24 points on Blue Valley.

On the year Watts has been a model of consistency on the floor for the Mustangs posting 18.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg and 1.4 apg, while shooting 61% from two-point range and 36% from three-point range this season.

The Mustangs are galloping in the right direction as postseason play looms in the weeks to come and look to close out the regular season riding momentum, but their final three games will be though tests for the team.
