Centralia Panther, Darrian Turner Ran Wild Helping Centralia Finish 9-2
Darrian Turner

The Centralia-Wetmore Panthers football program made the move up to Class 3A this year and looked to replace a strong senior class from last year. The Panthers put together strong season finishing 9-2 on the year, winning their District and making the 3A playoffs and picking up a first round win.

One big reason to the success on the field again for Centralia was the rushing attack out of their single-wing formation that averaged 360.3 yards per game as a team. One guy ran for 48% of the teams 3,963 rushing yards, as senior, Darrian Turner ran his way to 1,905 yards on the year. Turner went wild behind a strong offensive line and great blocks from his teammates with averages of 11.1 yards per carry and 173.2 rushing yards per game, with 22 rushing touchdowns on the year and added five receptions for 122 yards and two more touchdowns.

Turner also made an impact on defense at defensive back finishing with 62 tackles on a defense that gave up just 132 total points all season in 11 games.

Centralia needed players to step up this year and increase their roles from previous years and Turner did that with the help of his teammates, putting together a strong senior season on the football as the Panthers finished 9-2 on the year.
