Looking for a confidence builder and a “W” to put in the win column that’s exactly what the Valley Falls Dragons got on Friday night on the gridiron, taking down Jefferson County North 44-20.
Junior quarterback, Marty Gatzemeyer led the charge for the Dragons in the win accounting for 219 yards of the teams 399 total yards of offense. Gatzemeyer notched 170 yards on the ground on 29 carries with four TD’s, while going 2-6 for 49 yards in the passing game with a TD pass and also ran for a pair of two-point conversions.
On the year Marty as posted 1,353 yards of offense with 22 TD’s, as he has 534 yards on 116 carries with 13 scores on the ground, while passing for 819 yards on 60-131 and has tossed nine TD’s.
The Dragons are only 2-5 on the season but picked up a big win against JCN last Friday and going into the final two games of the season, Gatzemeyer and company will try and use that to keep their playoff chances alive.
