Tristan Speer

The Troy Trojans have their sights set on a return trip to the Class 2-1A playoffs as they tasted the playoffs last year and want more. This season the Trojans are off to a 5-1 record and have started District play 2-0.

The offense is putting up 40.7 points per game and has only scored under 30 points once his season, at the helm of that offense is senior quarterback, Tristan Speer who continues to sling the ball around on the field just like the end of last year. Last week, Speer finished 13-14 for 256 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-7 rout of Maranatha. Speer hit three different receivers for touchdowns in the contest.

Speer has been a game changer at the quarterback since coming to Troy last year as the team is 9-4 with him at quarterback, a record that includes two playoff games last year. On the season Tristan is 93-133 for 1,319 yards with a 67.7% completion percentage and 20 touchdowns, while rushing for 122 yards on 37 carries with three touchdowns. The senior also makes in impact of defense with 18 tackles and three sacks on the year.

While, Speer has put up strong numbers to lead the Trojans it’s his plethora of weapons around him, experience and team chemistry that has helped Troy off to a 5-1 record as they look to continue their momentum to close out the regular season with three games remaining and make another push to the playoffs.
