Austin Malone
|
Falls City Sacred Heart Irish senior, Austin Malone has taken over the reins of the Irish offense this year moving into the starting quarterback spot and has helped the Irish off to a 2-1 start to the season and #1 ranking in Division 2 in Nebraska.
Malone orchestrated the Irish offense in their latest game to a 54-6 rout of Pawnee City, as the senior was 8-10 for 118 yards and a pair of TD passes, while adding 97 yards and two TDs on 14 carries. Austin didn’t stop their passing for three two-point conversions and rushing for another to have his hand in 32 of the Irish’s 54 points in the win.
The seniors impacted wasn’t just felt on the offensive side of the ball as Malone picked off a pair of Pawnee City passes and tallied five tackles on defense in the win.
The week before the Irish took down Meridian and Malone was 8-13 for 207 yards and five TDs, while rushing for 185 yards on just eight carries with two rushing TDs.
The playmaking ability of the senior quarterback along with his teammates making plays around him has help the Irish start the season 2-1, with their lone loss to a top team in Missouri in North Andrew. Malone who had eight passing and seven rushing scores through the first three weeks of action on the football field looks to continue that momentum for the Irish as the season rolls along.
