The start gun has fired a few times this season and runners are starting to hit their groove on cross country courses across the State. One runner that started the season looking like she hasn’t missed a beat from last year is Atchison junior, Sarah Jaloma who has raced to a pair of first place performances to start the year.
Jaloma raced to first place over on Saturday at the Wamego Invitational in the 4A race winning the competition behind a time of 15:41.93; winning by nearly 15 seconds on the day. Sarah’s top flight performance helped her team finish fifth as a team on the day out of 16 teams involved in the 4A race.
Atchison cross country opened the season at the Basehor-Linwood and Jaloma started the season with a bang claiming first in that competition, also after posting a time of 16:50.50, winning by nearly 18 seconds.
Coming off of a fifth place finish as just a sophomore at State in Class 4A, Jaloma comes into this season primed for another great year running past the competition and she is off to the races to start her junior campaign with a pair of wins thus far this year.
