Riverside Cyclone, Andrae McGaughy Turning Into Prime Playmaker for Cyclone
Andrae McGaughy

The Cyclones in only their second season are enjoying great success and are off to a 6-0 start this year and the Delaware Valley League North title; helping lead the way to all that success is a sophomore quarterback, Andrae McGaughy.

McGaughy and Riverside may have not lit things up as they have one four of their six games this season in close contests by seven points or less. McGaughy who took over the reins this season has been steadily improving each week and broke out for the Cyclones this week when they need a prime performance to defeat the Onaga Buffalos this past Friday in 38-35 win.

Andrae let things fly on Friday night as he was 9-11 passing for 294 yards and four TD's, while also rushing for 105 yards on 16 carries and rushing in two two-point conversions. This was by far McGaughy's top performance of the season, as he showcased that he is turning into a prime playmaker for the Cyclones and maturing into a great quarterback for Riverside.

In one night Andrae double his passing yards on the season quadrupled this passing TD's and increased his rushing numbers on top of that to keep Riverside unbeaten on the season. McGaughy this season is 30-59 for 559 yards and six TD's, while rushing 101 times for 565 yards and 3 TD's (5.6 ypc). He has done work on the defensive side of the ball also this year, amassing 17 tackles, two interceptions and recovery and fumble.

McGaughy as shown that he is maturing along for the Cyclones at the quarterback position and turning into big time playmaker and leader for the Cyclones, building upon his 5-2 performance last year as the junior varsity quarterback. Andrae did see action on the varsity team last year, most notably on defense with 18 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Andrae looks to continue to blossom for the Cyclones this season and continue the success the team is having behind head coach, Scott Koranda this year. McGaughy is turning into one of the primer players in the Kanzaland area and looks to be a player to watch out for the next few years. Riverside continues the football season with district play and league matchups to wrap up the season in the final three weeks.
