The track season started off it a bang for Valley Heights Mustang sophomore, Brandi Jo Roepke as she claimed three gold medals and a silver at the Mustangs home meet last week to start the track season for Valley Heights.
Roepke last year as just a freshman, burst on the scene and won the 100 and 200 meter dashes, along with the 400 meter run in 1A at State, while finishing fourth in the long jump. The sophomore started the action competing in all four of those events in her first meet of the season and continued her strong showings.
Brandi raced past the competition to post times of 12.52 and 26.15 to win the 100 and 200 meter dashes; both times are actually better than her times that won State last year in both teams (100m State time 12.54 & 200m State time 26.15 as freshman).
She continued her dominant showing by claiming the 400 meter run title posting a time of 59.40, as the only girl under a minute on the day and won by nearly five seconds, for her third first place finish of the meet.
The Mustang star continued her strong start to the season in the field events as she leapt her way to a second place finish in the long jump posting a leap of 16’02.
Valley Heights as a team finished fourth at the meet out of 10 teams in competition with Brandi leading the charge as she has her sights set on repeating a strong performance in Wichita at the State level and improving upon her impressive freshman campaign.
