Jeff West Tiger, Justin Scott Wrestle's His Way to Another State Title
Justin Scott

Winning a State title once during your high school wrestling career is hard enough but doing it twice and in back-to-back season and in different weight classes, that is remarkable. That is exactly what Jeff West Tiger senior, Justin Scott did accomplishing that goal by winning the Class 4A 285lbs State title.

Scott the previous year wrestled at 220lbs and took home the State title in 4A and this year continued his momentum from last year dominating his opponents as he has a combined record of 76-1 in the last two years. Justin finished last year 39-0 and this season 37-1 with his lone loss in the Regional finals.

Not only has Scott been picking up the wins right and left the last two seasons on the mats but he has done so in impressive fashion winning basically every match via pinfall. In the State competition the senior opened the competition open with a win in 32 seconds by pin, followed that up by winning in 2:28 by pin in the second round. In the semifinals the pinfall trend continued with a win in 1:13 and then took home the title in 54 seconds in the championship bout.

Throughout the season the first place trophies piled up taking first at the Wabaunsee, Baldwin, KC Piper and Big Seven tournaments winning all but one of those matches in those competitions by pinfall.

Scott closes out his wrestling career as a back-to-back State champ and goes out on top yet again capping a wrestling career to be remembered.
