Falls City Tigers enjoyed a holiday break full of success on the basketball court as the Tigers pounced on their opponents adding a pair of trophies to the schools trophy case by winning both the St. Joseph LeBlond Holiday Tournament and Peru State College Holiday Tournament.
Helping lead the charge to the tourney titles was Falls City Tiger senior, Mitchell Harling who has been helping lead the team all season to their 9-1 mark thus far this season.
Harling got his week rolling for the Tigers with his best performance of the week against East Buchanan in the title game of the St. Joseph LeBlond Tournament, going 5-6 from three-point land and 6-8 from the charity strip to help lead him to a 21 point night. Tigers won the game by 20 points, earning the 65-45 win and the tourney title.
Tigers then set their sights on another top flight performance in a tournament as they set up to take on the challenge of the Peru State College Holiday Tournament. First up the Tigers took on Bayard Harling in the semifinals and the senior, Mitchell Harling stepped up again posting 14 points, three assists and three steals in a 66-34 dominating win.
The senior’s week only continued to be a good one as he hit a pair of three’s and went 5-6 at the free throw on his way to 17 points against Auburn in the Peru State College Holiday Tournament championship game 45-34 win. Harling also dished out six assists on the night orchestrating offense for himself and his teammates.
Falls City closed out the holiday break with a pair of tournament titles and Mitchell Harling was a key part and has been to the Tigers success this season, posting 13 ppg, 3 rpg, 3.2 apg and 1.6 spg on the year.
The Tigers hit a groove over the holiday break and with the play of the senior, Harling and his teammates combined the Falls City looks to build upon that in the second half portion of the season.
