Sarah Coversup

Charging out of the gates this season that is what the Horton Chargers basketball program with both the boys and girls team starting the season with a perfect 3-0 mark has done.
The Lady Chargers saw some dominating post play by junior, Sarah Coversup this past week as the Chargers worked past ACCHS in a tight ballgame and cruised past Immaculata thanks in part to Coversup’s performances on the court.
All-Delaware Valley League player from last year returned after a solid sophomore campaign with the Chargers and came into her junior year primed to make an impact on her team night in and night out and after opening the season with only five points against Hiawatha in a 47-43 Charger win Sarah burst onto the scene this season with big performances.
Chargers hit the road last Tuesday and headed to Effingham to take on ACCHS and had a battle on their hands but persevered and pushed themselves to a win as Sarah lead the charge with 17 points on the night, while her teammate Mariah Hisle chipped in 17, too.
Sarah then put on a dominate display of basketball in the Chargers next contest as they traveled to Leavenworth to take on Northeast Kansas League foe Immaculata last Friday. Coversup anchored the inside for the Chargers and lead them to victory again as the dispatched Immaculata 60-29, behind Sarah’s 29 points.
The junior posted 10 ppg last year but has that average up to 17 ppg early this season and with her great play and great team work shown my Horton this season they are off to a 3-0 start and look to continue that success with a matchup against Sabetha before Christmas break.
