With high achievements comes high expectations.

For former Holton Wildcat Lucas Lovvorn that is exactly what he faces this year after claiming a national championship last season as a sophomore for the Baker Wildcat Wrestling team.

So far this season Lovvorn has lived up the expectations as he was recently named the Heart of America Athletic Conference wrestler of the week for the second time this season after winning the Missouri Valley Invite last week.

He’s off to a 26-0 start to the season with a perfect 7-0 mark in duals after last season claiming the 174-pound National Championship with an astounding record of 41-4.

At Holton Lovvorn shined, as he captured the 160 pound title his senior season and won the 152-pound state title his junior campaign after taking fourth at 138 pounds his sophomore year.

Lovvorn will look to continue his strong junior season on Friday, as the No. 17 Baker Wildcats will next host Heart rival No. 11 Missouri Valley College at 7:00 p.m.
