Car Hecht

For the first time in school history the Benedictine Raven football team has advanced to the NAIA National Championship game after going on the road last Saturday and taking down Kansas Wesleyan University 43-21.

In that semifinal victory over KWU, the Ravens mainly used their ground game but through the air it was former McLouth Bulldog Carl Hecht leading the way as he led the Ravens with two catches for 49 yards.

Hecht is in his senior season as a tight end for the Raven football team and on the season has caught eight passes for 104 yards and one touchdown.

His strong senior season earned him All-Conference Honors, as Hecht was named to the Heart of America Athletic Conference Honorable Mention offensive team.

He is in his second full season as a tight at the varsity level and in his career has 16 catches for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

Hecht and the Raven’s will look to bring home the school’s first football national championship next Saturday December 15, as Benedictine will take on No. 1-ranked Morningside in Daytona Beach, Florida with kickoff scheduled for just after 5:00 and live coverage on KAIR 93.7 FM.
