Former Jackson Heights Cobra Hannah Williams Helps Lead Highland Volleyball to Top 10 National Ranking
Hannah Williams

The Highland Community College volleyball team is off to one of the best starts in school history, as the Scotties are 15-2 on the season and 3-1 in KJCCC play while being ranked No. 9 in the latest NJCAA DII rankings.

A big part of the success for the Lady Scottie has been the play of former Jackson Heights Cobra Hannah Williams, who is in her sophomore season on the volleyball team.

Williams has played in every set for the Scotties this season and has shined, recording 98 kills in the 59 sets played which is fourth on the team while also leading Highland in blocks on the year with 40.

This past week Williams had a strong showing against Allen County and the Benedictine junior varsity, as she recorded six kills and two blocks in the Lady Scotties win over the Red Ravens while recording two more blocks in the victory over BC.

Before Williams got to Highland she was a first team all-Northeast Kansas League selection at Jackson Heights her senior year in 2016, and an honorable mention selection her junior season.

In her senior season Williams finished second on the Cobras in kills with 128, second only to her sister Abby who is also a member of the Highland volleyball team.

Hannah also had a 90.3 serving percentage her senior season, while she also recorded 106 blocks and 226 digs in 81 sets played.

Williams and the Scotties will look to continue their success to start the season Friday, competing in the KCKCC tournament which gets underway at 10:00 in the morning.
