Lucas Broxterman

Making the leap from high school sports to the college level is not easy no matter the sport but former Royal Valley Panther, Lucas Broxterman has leapt right into the fold at Fort Hays State University with the track and field team and is finding success in his freshman campaign.
Broxterman most recently competed at the MIAA Championships helping the Fort Hays State Tiger men earn fifth place as a team out of 12 schools while taking second place in the high jump. Lucas posted his best leap of the year with a high jump of 6’11 earning him second place out of 18 competitors and also earning him All-MIAA honors.
During the outdoor season the former Royal Valley Panther has put forth several Top 10 performances in the high jump earning third at the Alex Francis Classic, sixth at CU Invite, seventh at UNK Loper Invite, eighth at Emporia State Spring Invite and ninth at the KU Relays. He also has competed in the long jump and earned fourth in the event at the UNK Loper Invite behind a leap of 22’02.25, while also taking seventh and eighth in the long jump at the Alex Francis Classic and Emporia State Spring Invite, respectively.
The former Royal Valley Panther got his collegiate athletic career underway in the Indoor track and field season at Fort Hays State and in his first competition took second place at the Kansas State Winter Invite in the high jump posting a leap of 6’00.75. He posted several Top 10 performances in the high jump during the Indoor season and also competed in the long jump.
In high school Broxterman closed his track and field career at Royal Valley by taking fourth at State in Class 3A in the high jump (6’02), fifth in the long jump (20’07) and sixth in the 300 meter hurdles (40.68). His junior year he won the 3A State title in the high jump (6’06) and took fifth in the long jump at State track, while he also competed in other sports in high school.
Broxterman looks to close out his freshman track and field season at Fort Hays State strong and continue to build for the years ahead.
