Former Doniphan West Mustang, Carson Lackey Bouncing Back From Injury to Start College Track Career Strong

After missing his senior year in track at Doniphan West high school former Mustang was eager to get back into action doing something he loves and he’s done that with some top notch performances at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri.

Carson Lackey has gotten off to a fast step in for his college track and field career jumping into the fold at Truman State as a freshman and is putting together some top flight sprinting performances. Lackey during the current Outdoor season has competed at multiple meets. At the Central Methodist Invite the former Mustang won the 200 meter dash (22.78) and was part of the 4x100 meter relay (43.37) team that took first place at the event, while he also earned second place in the 100 meter dash (11.27).

At the Central College Dutch Invite Lackey took second with the 4x100 meter relay team (43.06) and finished 11th in the 200 meter dash (22.71). Also during the current Outdoor season he placed tenth and 11th in the 100 (11.17) and 200 (22.50) meter dashes at the Jim Duncan Invite, while the 4x100 meter relay (42.56) team took third which he was a part of.

The former Doniphan West Mustang got his college track career underway during the Indoor season at Truman State and competed primarily in the 60 meter dash but also in the 200 meter dash, 300 meters and 4x200 meter relay. At the Dutch Athletics Open Lackey won the 60 meters (7.12) and the 200 meter dash (23.71), while at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge he finished fourth in the 200 meters (23.26) and sixth in the 60 meters (7.17) to highlight his Indoor season.

In school while Lackey was unable to compete in track his senior year because of an injury he did have a strong showing at State his junior season finishing third in Class 1A in the 200 meter dash (23.13), sixth in the 100 meter dash (11.49) and also was part of the 4x100 meter relay team (45.22) that took third place. Lackey was a multi-sport athlete playing football and basketball during at Doniphan West, also.

Just starting his college athletic career Lackey has put his imprint on the Truman State track and field program already and looks to continue to build and put forth strong performances at the NCAA Division II school for the rest of his college track career.
