Former Holton Wildcat, Justin Rieschick Helping Rebuild the Highland Baseball Program
Justin Rieschick

You never know where your journey will take you and for former Holton Wildcat, Justin Rieschick it was ultimately to Highland Community College to continue his athletic career after high school.

After originally committing to play football at Baker University Rieschick found a new opportunity at Highland with the baseball team with a chance to be a part in helping rebuild the program. The former Holton Wildcat red-shirted last year but now has the opportunity to play and he’s contributed on the field, in the lineup and on the mound this season for the Scotties.

Highland sits at 16-26 overall on the 2018 season with some games left as they look to work towards a playoff spot. Rieschick on the season is batting .286 with 26 hits, 29 runs scored, eight RBI, 24 walks and four stolen bases, while on the mound he’s thrown a team high 41.1 innings in nine appearances with eight starts recording 34 strikeouts to only 15 walks and carries a 9.58 ERA.

In high school Rieschick was a strong athlete in many sports including baseball as he was a two-time All-State honoree at pitcher and outfielder. In wrestling he placed fifth place or better in Class 4A at State all four years with a second place finish at 145lbs his senior year, while also helping Holton win the 4A team wrestling title in 2013 and 2014. On the football field Rieschick helped guide Holton to a State runner-up finish in 4A-DII his senior year and was a freshman when Holton won the 4A State title in 2012.

Rieschick looks to continue to help build up the Highland baseball program as second year Coach, Daniel Dulin looks to use guys like Justin to help build Scottie baseball.
