Sometimes it takes a little bit to make the jump from high school to college and make an impact no matter the sport but former Marysville Bulldog, Tristin Wicks wasted no time making an impact at MidAmerica Nazarene University jumping into the fold as a freshman and now as a senior is continuing her success on the basketball court.
Wicks now in her senior year at MidAmerica Nazarene has helped lead her team to a 10-1 record this season and a #7 ranking in the latest NAIA polls. The former Marysville Bulldog leads the team in points, rebounds and blocks putting up some solid numbers as she is averaging 14.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.8 blocks per game. She’s recorded double figures in eight of the 11 games this season including four 20+ point games and also had a pair of double-double’s.
In her Pioneer career Wicks has played in 113 games and is averaging 10.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game in her career, while scoring over 1,000 points. Wicks has also earned multiple postseason honors as she picked up honorable mention All-Conference in the Heart of America Athletic Conference her freshman and sophomore years, while being selected second team last year as a junior. She also was selected as Freshman of the Year and also was award the Liston award for her play on the court and off the court success in the classroom.
The 2015-16 season was the best in MidAmerica Nazarene history as Wicks and the Pioneers finished 32-5 and won the NAIA National title beating Baker University in the Championship contest. Wicks posted eight points, seven rebounds and three blocks in the win.
Back in high school as a Marysville Bulldog, Wicks earned first team All-League and All-State honors on the basketball court and was a multi-sport athlete finding success in other sports.
Wicks looks to cap her college playing career with a strong season at MidAmerica Nazarene as the team has their sights set on a top flight finish in the HAAC and a postseason run.
