Former Royal Valley Panther, Kate Hanson Making Best of Opportunity With Benedictinie Volleyball

Making the leap into the college level from high school sports takes hard work no matter the level of competition and former Royal Valley Panther, Kate Hanson has put in the hard work at Benedictine College on the volleyball court.

Hanson who last year played on the junior varsity team at Benedictine made the jump up to the varsity level this year and played the middle hitter spot did well seeing action in all 28 matches and playing in 86 sets. The former Royal Valley Panther helped the Ravens finish the regular season 20-8 overall and 12-7 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference finishing seventh in the conference. 

On the year Kate recorded 60 kills, 18 digs and 35 blocks while being a solid and consistent presence on the floor and in the middle.

In high school Hanson was a multi-sport athlete playing not only volleyball at Royal Valley but also participating in basketball, track and softball. Her senior year on the volleyball court she posted some solid numbers with 238 kills, 113 digs and 164 blocks and earned first team All-Big Seven League honors.

Hanson hopes to take her experience from this year and continue to progress as a player in college as the Ravens continue their season in the HAAC Tournament, while she also looks to build her game for the years to come with the Benedictine volleyball.
