Former Centralia Panther, Lukas Koch Finding Running Success at K-State

After an exceptional high school running career in cross country and track former Centralia Panther, Lukas Koch has found continued success at the college level running for Kansas State University on both the cross country and track teams.

Koch started his junior cross country campaign this year with a 19th place finish at the Augustana Twilight in Sioux Falls, South Dakota back on September 2nd posting a time of 20:00.14, while helping the K-State men’s cross country team finish second place.

Lukas has enjoyed plenty of success as he continues to do something he loves and enjoys in running. Last year the former Panther ran in five races during the cross country season posting a 38th place finish at the WSU JK Gold Classic Duals, while also finishing 54th at the Big 12 Championships (26:20.7). On the track side he notched a pair of sixth place finishes at the indoor Big 12 Championships in the mile (4:13.28) and as part of the Distance Medley Relay team (10:02.05), while in the outdoor season he ran to a seventh place finish in the 1500 meters at the Big 12 Championships and finished 29th at the NCAA West Preliminary in the 800 meters.

During his Wildcat career Koch as enjoyed multiple strong performances including back in 2013 running in six cross country races with a 21st place at the Rim Rock Classic, 26th place at the Woody Greeno Invite and 62nd place at the Big 12 Championships.

From a multiple medal winner in high school, winning the 1A cross country title in 2012 and sweeping the 3200, 1600 and 800 meters in 1A in 2012 and 2011, Lukas has continued to succeed with his athletic ability. Koch who is majoring in Mechanical Engineering looks to continue to strive to get better as he continues his running career at K-State.
