Baker University has had a strong football program for a while and this year is no different as the Wildcats are 4-0 on the season and ranked #2 nationally in NAIA.
After wins over #23 William Penn (31-27) and #9 Grand View on the road (48-41) the Wildcats have won easily the last two weeks with 67-7 and 66-14 wins over Culver-Stockton and Graceland, respectively.
The defense has been strong and is the fourth best scoring defense out of 12 teams in the Heart of America Conference and helping lead the charge is former Holton Wildcat, Indie Allen. Allen now a junior at Baker leads the team in tackles through four games with 39 tackles and has six tackles for loss and three sacks which are tied for the team lead.
Allen in his career at Baker has 98 tackles and also returned a punt 88-yard for a touchdown his sophomore year. This season the former Holton Wildcat has registered at least eight tackles in each game and had 12 tackles versus Grand View, while notching eight tackles with two sacks in the most recent game against Graceland.
In high school Allen helped Holton to multiple successful seasons on the gridiron and was named first team All-Big Seven at runningback and linebacker his senior year also earning honorable mention All-State honors. In his career he amassed 1,557 yards rushing with 1,350 coming his senior year, while totaling 132 career tackles.
Allen and the Baker Wildcats look to continue their successful season when they take on #14 Benedictine in their next contest on Saturday, September 23rd.
