Former Sabetha Bluejay, Heidi Heiniger Finding Success at Marshall

Top level competition at the highest level in Division I action that is what former Sabetha Bluejay, Heidi Heiniger has been facing and she has been showcasing that she is one of the top competitors herself in the javelin competing in the event as part of the Marshall University track team.

Heiniger now in her sophomore year is off to a great start throwing the javelin winning two the event at two of the four competitions she has competed in with Marshall. The former Sabetha Bluejay won with a toss of 136’11 at the William Walton Invite at James Madison University and posted her best mark of the season with a toss of 148’00 to win the javelin at the Sheraton University of North Florida Spring Break Invite. She opened up the track season placing sixth at the Bob Davidson Spring Kickoff at High Point University (140’11) and also placed tenth at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville (140’03).

As a freshman Heiniger made a big impact at Marshall notching seven Top 10 performances including three wins and earned All-Conference USA honors after finishing second place in the javelin at the C-USA Outdoor Championships (141’01). On top her performance in the javelin Heiniger earned some top academic honors also being named C-USA Commissioner’s honor roll and also awarded the C-USA academic medal.

In high school Heiniger made the State track meet all four years and placed seventh or better all four years in the javelin. Her senior year she finished fourth in Class 3A at the State meet.

The former Sabetha Bluejay looks to continue to build on her strong performances at Marshall University and put together a great career throwing the javelin for the Thundering Herd.
