Former RV Panthers, Worrell & Schuetz Leading Cloud County Softball

From a strong duo on the diamond at Royal Valley high school to competing at the college level together on the diamond too former Royal Valley Panthers, Jaycee Worrell and Leslie Schuetz are making an impact on the Cloud County softball team.

Both Worrell and Schuetz now in their sophomore campaigns have hit the diamond in all 22 the games for Cloud County helping the team to a 12-10 mark on the season thus far. Worrell carries a .324 batting average on the season while leading the team in hits with 22 including a double and has 10 RBI’s, nine runs scored, 11 stolen bases, three walks and only has four strikeouts in 68 at bats. Schuetz is hitting .220 on the season with 13 hits including two doubles and two home runs, while registering 10 RBI’s, 10 runs scored, nine walks and four stolen bases.

As freshman both Worrell and Schuetz made big impacts for Cloud County finishing season second and third in hits for the team, while Jaycee lead the team in stolen bases and Leslie led the team in walks and tied for the team lead in home runs and doubles. Worrell posted a batting average of .338 with 46 hits (three doubles, two triples) with six RBI’s, 32 runs scored, seven walks, 11 stolen bases and struck out just 10 times in 136 at bats. Schuetz had the team’s third best batting average at .351 registering 39 hits with ten doubles, a triple and four home runs along with 25 RBI’s, 11 walks and six stolen bases. Cloud County posted a 17-21 record in their freshman season.

As Royal Valley Panthers Worrell and Schuetz helped guide the Panther softball team to a Big Seven League title their senior year going 13-0 in League play and finished the season 19-2 making it to the Regional Championship game. Worrell was a multi-sport athlete playing not only softball but basketball and volleyball and earning All-League honors in all three. Schuetz earned All-League softball honors along with honorable mention All-State honors and also played basketball while at Royal Valley.

The former Panther duo looks to continue their success on the diamond for T-Birds of Cloud County as they look to continue to play a sport they love.
