Former Nemaha Valley Raider, Creighton Brinker Enjoying Game of Basketball

After a strong high school basketball career that ended with a 3A State runner-up finish at Nemaha Valley high school, Creighton Brinker continued his hoops career in college and has continued to play the game he loves.

Brinker took the junior college route coming out of high school going to Cloud County Community College for two years before transferring to Pittsburg State University where he is competing in his senior season this year. While the Gorillas are just 1-10 on the season the former Nemaha Valley Raider is enjoy a strong senior campaign individually. Creighton is one of two guys on the team that has started all 11 games this season and is averaging nine points, 5.4 rebounds, one assist and 1.1 blocks per game, while shooting 54.8% from the floor and 61.3% from three-point range (19-31). He leads the team in blocks (12) along with field goal and three-point field goal percentage, while ranking second on the team in points and rebounds.

Against Nebraska-Kearny Brinker posted his best offensive game notching 26 points for Pittsburg State this year. Brinker transferred to Pittsburg State from Cloud County and as a junior in his first year with the Gorillas appeared in 28 games averaging two points and 1.9 rebounds per game. At Cloud County he started all 32 games for the Thunderbirds his sophomore campaign while playing in 30 games as a freshman. As a sophomore at Cloud County Brinker averaged 10.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 50% from the floor and 30% from three three-point range.

During high school Brinker enjoyed plenty of success at Nemaha Valley including wrapping up his high school basketball career with a 3A State runner-up finish with a 24-2 record. Creighton averaged 14.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game his senior year and was named 3A All-State player twice in his Raider career.

Brinker and the Gorillas look to challenge teams coming out of the break after a rough start to the season and Creighton looks to finish his collegiate basketball career strong, while finishing up his degree with a major in construction management.  Pittsburg State is set to hit the court again on January 2nd at home versus Avila University.
