Former Holton Wildcat, Rob Riederer Making Impact at DI Level With Tulsa

Continuing ones athletic career into the college ranks is a goal of many athletes and getting to the highest level in Division I is something many dream about but only a small percent are able to achieve. Former Holton Wildcat, Rob Riederer achieved that when you earned a scholarship to University of Tulsa  and he has put in the work over the past years to earn playing time and make an impact for the 9-3 Golden Hurricanes this season.

Riederer hit the campus of Tulsa in the fall of 2012 and grayshirted for the team and then took a redshirt in 2013, finally hitting the field for the first time in 2014 playing special teams. Rob has worked himself to be a key piece of the special teams unit for the Golden Hurricanes and also plays offense at tight end coming in on the goal line package. Now a redshirt junior, Riederer has played in 11 of the teams 12 games this season and 30 games in three years of action on the field. The former Holton Wildcat has recorded a pair of tackles on special teams this year and has one reception this season that went for a nine-yard touchdown in a 58-21 win over North Carolina A&T.

In high school as a Holton Wildcat Riederer enjoyed a great athletic career as he was a three-year starter at runningback and two-year starter on defense, registering 121 tackles his senior year with 649 yards rushing and seven touchdowns earning 4A All-State football honors. Rob as a senior was ranked as the eighth best prospect in the State of Kansas by Rivals.com and was a multi-sport athlete in the high school lettering in track and wrestling on top of football.

While Rob is making the best of his opportunities on the field with Tulsa on specials teams and at tight end in certain packages he’s making the most of his opportunity in the classroom also as he graduated back in May with his Bachelor’s degree in finance and minor in management and his now pursuing his master’s degree.

The Golden Hurricanes are set up to have one more game this season as they carry a 9-3 record and qualify to go bowling. Tulsa was selected for Miami Beach Bowl in Miami, FL on Monday, December 19th and will play against Central Michigan.
