Coming from a small town and a small high school often times makes it hard to make the transition to the college level.
For former Valley Falls Dragon Allison Kearney she has made that transition seem simple as she is starring in her freshman season for the Ottawa University softball team.
Kearney has played in 41 of the Braves 42 games in her freshman campaign and has helped Ottawa to a 24-18 record including a 16-8 record in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
She is currently batting .376 with 44 hits, 32 runs batted in, 36 runs scored and three triples while boasting an on-base percentage of .436.
Her average and hits each place her third on the team, while her nine doubles and 32 RBI’s have her second on the team.
In high school Kearney lettered in basketball, volleyball and softball, while she also helped led the Dragons to the 2016 Kansas 2A Softball State Championship. She was an all-league selection three times and was also a two-time first team all-state selection and earned second team all-state honors once.
Kearney will look to continue her strong freshman campaign into the postseason, as the Braves earned the fourth seed in the KCAC postseason tournament in Great Bend.
