Sabetha & Nemaha Valley Highlight Sabetha Golf Invite with Other Top Performers

With great weather seven area schools boys golf squads meet up against each other in Sabetha as the Bluejays hosted an Invitational, featuring fellow Big Seven schools, Nemaha Valley and Hiawatha, as well as DVL schools, Horton and Maur Hill-Mount Academy and also Marysville and Atchison, participated, too.

At the end of the day it was the host Sabetha and fellow Big Seven team, Nemaha Valley highlighting the action on the day.

The Bluejays shot their way to wins in the 6-man scores and 2-man scores, while also having three top 10 individual performances. In the 6-man competition only three teams brought full teams and the Bluejays finished with a combined score of 536, beating out Nemaha Valley and Atchison. Bluejays, 2-man team of Nolan Keim and Tyler Ulrich combined to win the 2-man title with a score of 156, 19 strokes better than second place. Keim posted a 72 and Ulrich tallied a 84 on the day not only good for win in 2-man, but also good for first and third place on the day, individually.

Sabetha's top performances didn't stop there was their 4-man team finished second on the day to Nemaha Valley with a score 380 on the day. Kevan Herbster, Derek Halls, Darrin Wenger and Brock Frey made up the 4-man team for the Bluejays, finishing with individual scores of 86, 91, 105 and 98 on the day, respectively. Herbster's 86 on the day proved to be a top 10 performance individually, earning him a fifth place.

For the Raiders of Nemaha Valley their day was highlighted by the first place finish of the 4-man team, but also second place in 6-man team, two individual top 10 performers and fourth in the 2-man competition. Raiders, 4-man team posted a combined score of 357; 23 strokes better than second place finishers Sabetha. Trent Olberding lead the way on the team shooting an 83 on the day, also earning Olberding second place individually. Caleb Meyer, was three strokes behind his teammate, shooting an 86 for the second best score on his team and a seventh place finish, individually. Zach Bradley and Justice McKernan rounded out the Raiders 4-man team, shooting 89 and 99, respectively.

Nemaha Valley took second of the three teams in the 6-man competition with a score of 548, while placing fourth in the 2-man game with a 191 on the day.

The remaining five other top 10 individual performances came from three teams in Horton, Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Atchison.

For the Chargers of Horton, MaKenzi Knudson lead the way following up his second place finish at Hiawatha with a fourth place finish in Sabetha, after shooting an 85. Horton's, 2-man team finished third of the five teams competiting the 2-man game, registering an 180 team score.

Both Maur Hill and Atchison finished with two top 10 finishers on the day in the Sabetha Invite. For the Ravens, Evan Wheeler shot a 86 good for sixth place and Brock Hanf finished the day with an 89, taking home a tenth place finish. The two totalled 175 on the day good for the second best 2-man team score of the day. The Redmen of Atchison were lead by a eighth and ninth place finish by Cole Custer and Gabe Julo who both shot an 88 on the day. Redmen took fifth in both the 4-man and 2-man competitions, while placing third in the 6-man competition.

The Hiawatha Redhawks day was highlighted by a third place performance in the 4-man competition with a combined score of 402; Marysville took home a fourth place finish in the 4-man competition behind a score of 414.
