Holton Boys Golf Takes Hiawatha Invite Crown

Seven area teams came together on the golf course on Friday with Hiawatha playing host of the golf Invitational.

It was another Big Seven League team headlining the action as Holton took home the team crown behind five top 10 finishers, three of which claimed the three of the top five finishes. Wildcats finished with a team scored of 159, a total of 26 strokes better than second place on the day. Leading Holton was Tavin Dugan who captured first place shooting a 35, while three of his teammates followed in third and fourth place. Kenton Tegethoff claimed third with a 41 and Garrett Beecher followed in fourth with a 41, also.

Wildcats top 10 performances didn't stop with Ethan Holaday taking home sixth after shooting a 42 and Walker Degenhardt placed ninth with a 45.

Second place went to the only other with multiple individual top 10 finishers, which was Maur Hill-Mount Academy who tallied a 185 team score on the day. Evan Wheeler lead the Ravens on the day with a fifth place finish after shooting a 42, while Mark McDermed shot a 45 to take home tenth place on the day.

The Sabetha Bluejays, finished right behind Maur Hill by one stroke in the team score with a 186, giving the Bluejays third place as a team; Sabetha was lead by Tyler Ulrich who shot a 44, giving him a seventh place finsih.

Falls City was the only other team to have a top 10 individual finisher on the day with Brody Weinmann tallying a 45 on the day giving him eighth and helping the Tigers to team score of 197 good for fourth place as a team.

Horton, Hiawatha and Atchison rounded out the team scores finishing fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively on the day with team totals of 204, 211 and 226. While Horton finished fifth as a team they took a second place individually with MaKennzi Knudson who shot a 39 of the day.
