Sabetha Takes 2nd & 4th as Team at Wamego Boys Golf Invite

With the spring sports season fully underway the golf season has started and the Sabetha Bluejays started off the year with a solid performance at the Wamego Invitational.

Ten schools participated in the invitational with 11 total teams as one school had two teams compete and the Bluejays took home a second and fourth place finish in the team scores of the 2-man and 4-man competitions, respectively.

Sabetha's, 2-man team was comprised of Nolan Keim and Tyler Huber who combined for a score of 174 on the day which was good for second place, 12 storkes behind first place team Wamego. Keim posted an 82 on the day which was not only good enough to help him earn second with his teammate Huber but earn him the highest finish of any area golfer at the Wamego Invite, placing him seventh on the day individually in amongst 60-plus golfers. Huber shot a 92 on the day which earned him 20th place a tie with fellow Bluejay Derek Halls who was part of the 4-man team.

Bluejays, 4-Man team tallied a total on the day of 388 with the combined scores of Kevan Herbster, Derek Halls, Darrin Wenger and Brock Frey good for a fourth place finish. Herbster had the best round of the four shooting a 90 on the day good for 14th place individually on the competition. While Halls shot a 92, Wenger tallied a 102 and Frey added a 104 on the day.

Other area teams in Perry Lecompton and Marysville, also participated in the competition with the best performance between the two teams coming by the Kaws 2-man team who finished 5th place on the day.
