Frankfrot Arctic Invite Track & Field Results

Spring sports season has gotten underway for many area schools and a few track teams have commenced their season already. Twin Valley League teams in Centralia, Onaga and Frankfort meet up against each other to have a triangular as Frankfort played host to their annual Arctic Invite.

Centralia Panther boys and girls both took the team crowns compiling 129 and 136 total points, respectively. The Frankfort girls finished second with 119 total points and Onaga third as a team with 63 points. The Onaga boys took home second with 124 points, while Frankfort finished third as a team with 89 total points.

The Panther boys team took home nine individual titles with mulitple event winners on the day in the three team meet. In the sprint events it was, Panther sophomore, Darrian Turner winning both the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 11.55 and 23.74, respectively. Senior, Lukas Koch also grabbed multiple event crowns winning both the 400 and 800 meter runs with times of 51.76 and 2:07.18, respectively.

Panther junior, Brett Burdiek also won multiple events winning the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.03 and also winning the high jump with a leap of 6-00. Senior, Jon Durland and junior, Cody Huerter also won events for Centralia winning the 300 meter hurdles and pole vault titles, respectively. Durland raced his way to a  time of 48.52 for the hurdles crown and Huerter vaulted 11-00 to the win. Also the Centralia team of Wyatt VanDorn, Darrian Turner, Sam Steinlage and J.T. Rosine took home the 4x100 meter relay title with a time of 46.48.

Highlighting Onaga's day individually was Klye Bliss, Michael Bliss, Chance Bloomer, Mychal Kolterman and the relay teams. Buffaloes relay teams took home the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay titles. The team of Chance Bloomer, Wyatt Cordell, Thomas Eisenbarth and Mitchell Kufahl took home the 4x400 meter crown with a time of 3:45.19. While the team of Wyatt Cordell, Jackson Glessner, Mitchell Kufahl and Thomas Eisenbarth won the 4x800 meter relay registering a time of 9:31.98.

Individually the other event titles went to Buffaloes in field events of the meet with wins in the long jump, triple jump, shot put and discus throw. Senior, Kyle Bliss captured the long jump crown with a leap of 18-09.50, while senior, Chance Bloomer leapt to the triple jump crown with a leap of 35-09.50. Senior, Mychal Kolterman tossed his way to the shot put title with a toss of 41-01, while sophomore, Michael Bliss also tossed his way to a win, his in the discus throw with a toss of 110-00.

For Frankfort on the boys side they were highlighted by dual individual titles for junior, Adam Koch who won both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with times of 5:10.13 and 11:06.62. While, senior, Alex Surdez took home the javelin throw title for the Wildcats, also with a toss of 159-07.

On the girls side the Panthers of Centralia highlighted things winning 11 of the events on the day. Panthers had one multi-event winner on the day in freshman, Mayda Stallbaumer, while juniors, Julia Klute and Kennedy Korpi both won individual events and were part of the relay team for the Panthers that won. Stallbaumer took home titles in the 800 and 3200 meter runs with times of 2:52.30 and 14:39.73. Klute and Korpi each won the 1600 meter run and 400 meter dash, respectively on the day with times of 6:23.44 and 1:12.13. Both Julia and Kennedy were also part of the Panthers team win in the 4x800 meter relay as Blair Burdiek and Malori Koch joined them on the team and registered a time of 11:41.08.

Panthers also swept the sprint events with freshmans, Taylor Flentie and Chelsea Huerter taking the 100 and 200 meter dash titles, respectively with times of 14.58 and 29.56. Centralia also took home first in four of the seven field events on the day. Freshman, Drew Kramer lept her way to the title in the high jump with a leap of 4-06, while senior, Kindal Deters vaulted her way to the pole vault crown with a vault of 8-00. Junior, Riley Hanzlik and freshman, Tara Bergman both tossed their way to wins on the day. Riley won the javelin throw with a toss of 114-05 and Bergman won the shot put with a toss of 32-06.

For the Onaga lady Buffaloes on the the day the highlights came from their relay teams who won two of the three relay events. The team of seniors, Deborah Ames and Bethany Glessner and juniors, Jocelyn Marten and Sarah Schultz took home the 4x400 meter relay title with a time fo 4:47.75. Glessner, Marten and Ames competed on the 4x100 meter relay team also that won with a time of 55.66, with Destiny Schwant also contributing to the team. Ames, also grabbed the long jump title on the day with a leap of 13-10, while sophomore, Rebekah Glessner won the triple jump for the Buffaloes with a leap of 30-08.

Highlighting things for Frankfort were three event titles with Josie Hale, Kyla Hardwick and Hali Stiner winning an event on the day. Senior, Hale threw her way to the discus throw title behind a toss of 100-08 on the day. While, junior, Stiner and freshman, Hardwick gave the Wildcats the sweep of the hurdles events with wins in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, respectively with times of 18.90 and 55.52.

Track season is fully underway and it looks like another great season for the Kanzaland area track and field athletes.
