The Valley Falls softball team opened their regular season on Thursday afternoon at home as they hosted McLouth in NEKL action.

It was roughly 90 degrees with 30 mph+ winds throughout the game which provided some challenges for both sides of the ball.

The Dragons would prevail in the first game of the doubleheader by a final score of 8-5.

Valley Falls scored all eight of their runs in the first three innings. They scored three in the first, two in the second, and three more in the third.

The three runs scored in the first were off McLouth defensive miscues while Taygen Pannel provided the first big hit in the second inning with a two-run double.

Multiple errors by the Bulldogs in the third inning provided some help for Valley Falls to tally those few runs.

McLouth wouldn't go away quietly as they got three on the board in the fourth inning to get within 8-4 as that inning was highlighted by a two-run double by Madison Turner.

Kinlee Wolfe added an RBI double for McLouth in the seventh inning, but the rally for the Bulldogs would end after that.

Both starting pitchers went the distance with Abby Wilson for Valley Falls and Madison Turner for McLouth.

McLouth would take the second game of the DH by a final score of 11-0. After the results, the Dragons sit at 1-1 overall while the Bulldogs are 4-2 overall heading into the weekend.
