The Sabetha Legion Post #126 squad battled through a 54-minute rain delay Wednesday night and held off Corning Post #216 for a 16-14 victory.

Both teams erupted for five runs in the opening inning. Corning struck first, scoring five runs on three hits. Ben Haverkamp drove in two runs with a double, Max Walters added an RBI groundout, and two more runs scored on wild pitches.

Sabetha answered immediately in the bottom half, tying the game at 5-5 despite collecting just two hits. Camden Wittwer and Jack Frazee each delivered two-run singles, while the fifth run crossed on a wild pitch.

Corning regained the lead in the second inning, pushing across two runs to take a 7-5 advantage. Hayden Schultejans contributed an RBI double, and Teagan Bowhay followed with an RBI single.

Sabetha trimmed the deficit to 7-6 in the bottom of the second when Micah Lang scored on a wild pitch.

Corning carried its one-run lead into the bottom of the fourth before weather halted play for nearly an hour. When action resumed, Sabetha capitalized with a five-run inning to move in front. Tramp highlighted the rally with a two-run double, while Tyson Detweiler added a sacrifice fly.

Corning responded in the fifth, scoring four runs on two hits to even the game at 11-11. Kolby Bowhay delivered an RBI single, and Isaac Wegner scored on a wild pitch during the rally.

Sabetha answered with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, providing the cushion it would need to secure the win. The final out was recorded just before 10 p.m. as Post #126 completed the 16-14 victory.

Both teams return to action Sunday afternoon, with Corning hosting Marysville and Sabetha traveling to Hiawatha.
